Nora Asahara, Esq.

Nora Asahara is a special education attorney who loves working with families of children with disabilities because of the joy of seeing these special kids flourish at school with better grades, getting involved with peers, and simply looking forward to being in the classroom. Ms. Asahara provides a personalized experience for every family, leaving an impact long after school district issues are resolved because her goal is to teach every client how to advocate for themselves. She has extensive knowledge and experience in the development and writing of IEP’s, from both the educational and legal perspectives. This expertise gives her specialized skills in addressing issues at their source.

Ms. Asahara has worked with students from a vast array of disabilities and special education needs. Her experiences include representing children with autism, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and visual impairment. She has handled issues such as behavioral intentions, IEP accommodations and modifications, school suspensions, and many more.

Ms. Asahara has previous experience as a credentialed resource specialist teacher through California State University, Sacramento and has run IEP meetings as a school district representative. Since 1998, she has provided legal representation at IEP’s, mediation, and due process to families of students with disabilities. Ms. Asahara has also provided special education legal consultation and representation at In-Home Supportive Services hearings for regional center clients. She enjoys meeting with parent support groups and speaking at legal seminars.

Ms. Asahara holds a BA in Psychology and History from UCLA and a JD from Pepperdine University. She passed the California State Bar in 1998. In her spare time, she volunteers for Southern California Dachshund Relief and is learning Spanish.
